Before revving up the tractor on the ramps, ensure the parking brakes of your truck are set, and the trailer is adequately lit. Secure the ramps to the truck’s hitch mechanism to make sure they don’t slide out while the tractor is on the ramp. Depending with the size and model of the tractor, you can either back it onto the trailer or drive it forward up the ramps. It is advisable to drive all the way up the ramps, if for any reason you stop midway, let the tractor roll slowly to the ground and start the process again.
The final step is to kill the tractor’s engine, set the parking brakes, cut off its fuel supply, unscrew the battery connectors, secure the tractor with tie-downs straps and tarp it if necessary. The tie-downs depend on the size and model of the tractor. Remember to check on the condition of the straps as well as their working load limits. Since your tie-down system is as strong as the weakest component, only use quality straps and factor in the weight distribution of the tractor as you secure it from all directions.
