St. Cloud, MN
Farm Equipment Transport

Standard Minnesota limits generally allow loads up to 8 feet 6 inches wide, 13 feet 6 inches high, and 80,000 pounds gross vehicle weight. Combination vehicles are generally limited to 75 feet overall unless an exception applies. Equipment exceeding these limits may require an oversize or overweight permit.

Farm equipment exceeding Minnesota’s legal size or weight limits requires an oversize or overweight permit before moving on state highways. Complete loaded dimensions, weight, trailer configuration, origin, destination, and route information should be confirmed before dispatch, and separate permits may be needed for roads outside MnDOT jurisdiction.

Farm equipment moving through St. Cloud may require escort vehicles when the permitted load exceeds Minnesota thresholds. The number and placement of escorts depend on the loaded width, length, overhang, roadway type, visibility, and any route-specific conditions included with the permit.

Farm equipment moving through St. Cloud must follow the travel periods authorized on the Minnesota oversize or overweight permit. Winter weather, spring thaw, holiday restrictions, construction, reduced visibility, and route-specific conditions can delay or limit movement.

Agricultural machinery moving through St. Cloud should be secured for winter conditions, spring thaw, rural roads, and active farm traffic. The trailer, chains, binders, ramps, winches, brakes, tires, lights, flags, and warning devices should be inspected before departure, with extra attention given to cold-weather readiness.

Farm equipment routes through St. Cloud should account for winter conditions, spring thaw, bridge limits, construction, and seasonal farm traffic. I-94, US-10, US-52, MN-15, and MN-23 provide regional access, while rural roads across Stearns, Benton, and Sherburne counties should be checked for width, weight limits, and turnaround space.
