Palm Coast, FL
Farm Equipment Transport

Florida generally allows commercial loads up to 8 feet 6 inches wide, 13 feet 6 inches high, a 53-foot semitrailer, and 80,000 pounds gross vehicle weight, subject to axle and bridge-formula limits. Farm machinery exceeding these limits may require a Florida oversize or overweight permit and an authorized route.

A Florida oversize or overweight permit may be required when agricultural machinery exceeds legal dimensions, axle limits, or gross weight. Permit review is based on the loaded measurements, vehicle configuration, origin, destination, and proposed route. The state permit may not cover Palm Coast streets, Flagler County roads, or private access roads, so additional authorization may be necessary.

Florida may require escort vehicles when farm equipment exceeds permit thresholds for width, height, length, or safe movement. The permit may call for front, rear, or multiple escorts, and taller machinery may require a height-pole vehicle. Additional coordination may be needed on Palm Coast streets, Flagler County roads, or rural approaches with limited visibility or maneuvering room.

Florida permit conditions determine the authorized travel hours for oversized agricultural machinery. Larger loads may be limited to daylight movement and restricted during holidays, severe weather, or periods of reduced visibility. Travel through Palm Coast may also need to avoid heavy traffic periods or comply with separate conditions on Flagler County and locally maintained roads.

Farm machinery should be loaded on a properly rated trailer and secured at approved tie-down points before leaving Palm Coast. Attachments, loose components, and hydraulic sections must be stabilized, while flags, lights, signs, and pilot-car equipment may be required for oversized loads. Pickup and delivery areas should also provide firm ground that can safely support the truck and trailer.

Interstate 95, U.S. Route 1, and State Road 100 provide regional access around Palm Coast, while rural deliveries may require travel on narrower Flagler County roads. The route should be reviewed for soft shoulders, sandy entrances, gated access, low branches, and enough room for the carrier to turn and unload.
